About PetRescue
PetRescue may be small, but with your help we are achieving big things!
PetRescue is a not-for-profit organisation that finds new homes for lost and abandoned pets. We believe every homeless pet deserves the chance to find a new loving family, but with rescue groups across the country struggling to feed and care for animals, many pets miss out on homes simply because nobody knows they are available.
Through our rehoming programs, PetRescue makes it easy for potential adopters to find and save a rescue pet. Our website is the largest online, searchable directory of rescue pets in Australia, making it a hub for rescue groups, pet lovers and friends like you.
More than 10,000 pets find homes each year thanks to their PetRescue listings.
But still over twenty times that number are killed each year in Australia because homes can't be found for them.
You can help rescue groups keep saving pets by making a donation to PetRescue. Your support gives small and independent rescue groups a high level of exposure to potential adopters, helps raise awareness of the benefits of rescue pet adoption and helps homeless and abandoned pets find the forever families of their dreams.
And with thousands of pets available for adoption every day, PetRescue gives you the best chance of finding your new best friend.
Cheers!

The PetRescue Team
An amazing journey
PetRescue began in 2003, when three friends got together over a quiet pint to discuss their day.
Shel was an executive assistant at a marketing company, volunteering on the weekends at a local animal shelter. Vickie was a dog behavioural trainer who had given up a successful career in advertising to work with homeless and abandoned animals. JB was a freelance web developer who had made a name for himself working on some of the country's biggest networks and e-commerce websites.

The PetRescue Nerve Centre (2003)
The three friends, all animal lovers, got to talking about a website that might just be able to act as an online matchmaker for homeless animals looking for a loving family.
Shel, Vix and JB worked for over a year to develop the website and the relationships needed to ensure its success. Now, nearly five years later, PetRescue has grown from 'three friends in a pub' to one of the most successful animal rehoming networks in the country.
Working to level the playing field, PetRescue allows small and independent rescue groups the same level of exposure as large, well funded organisations. Family, friends and friends of friends have helped spread the word and evolve PetRescue from an animal rehoming website to an national movement taking action to stop the killing of healthy companion animals in Australia.
PetRescue today
Still run by the same passionate people who founded it, PetRescue is operated from three home offices; two in Perth and one in Brisbane. We have a fantastic team of volunteers who help arrange flights for rescue pets, adoption promotions, rescue registrations and keep on top of the busy hub supporting rescue groups and pet owners.
Meet the team!We provide our services free to rescue organisations and rely on donations, corporate sponsorship and community support to continue to operate.
With your help, we have saved 68,173 animals, and together with the charismatic Wil Anderson as a celebrity supporter, PetRescue is working hard towards the day when there are no more homeless pets.
