May 2009: No Kill Conference in the United States

On the 2nd and 3rd of May 2009 in Washington DC the No Kill Advocacy Center teamed up with the Animal Law program at George Washington University Law School to bring together the nation’s most successful shelter directors and the nation’s top animal lawyers. Their focus;

Teaching communities how to implement 'No Kill' programs and how to use the legal system to save the lives of animals.

Speakers included animal control directors who are now saving over 90% of all animals using the building blocks of the No Kill Equation; implementing programs and services that have had results in both urban and rural communities. Increasing adoptions, reducing the lengths of stay, increasing redemption rates, rehabilitating animals, and much, much more.

Animal law experts spoke on drafting model laws, fighting breed specific legislation and protecting condemned dogs. They shared knowledge on how to use the legal system to save the lives of animals and how to launch successful campaigns for reform.
