Meg **Now Adopted** - small female terrier cross dog

Picture of Meg **Now Adopted****UPDATE 23/5/10: THIS IS A WONDERFUL DAY IN MEG'S LIFE - SHE HAS FINALLY BEEN ADOPTED AND HAS JUST LEFT FOR THE CENTRAL COAST ON A THREE-WEEK TRIAL IN HER NEW HOME**

WAITING ..... WAITING ..... WAITING... Would you believe I've been waiting at Helping Paw Rescue since JUNE 2008, always hoping that one day the phone would ring and someone would express an interest in coming to meet me and then offer me a lovely forever home. Yes, to meet ME, not the adorable Maltese pup or the ShihTzu girl with the captivating smile. But to date it's never once happened and this makes me very sad. :-(

I guess it would take nothing short of a miracle for someone to single me out, actually PREFERRING that I'm a mature-aged doggy of 9 years and not some youngster with too much energy and too little life experience.

But then I've learned to believe that miracles DO happen sometimes. I only need to remember ALICE, who became my best friend. Her story was very similar to mine. For months and months she too had waited here at Helping Paw Rescue, always being overlooked in favour of younger and prettier dogs when it came to adoptions. And yet, one day a lovely young couple who were visiting from South Australia came here just to meet ALICE. Happily it proved to be a case of love at first sight all around and a few days later ALICE packed her bags and returned to SA with them.

I lost my original home when my family surrendered me to one of Sydney's largest kill-pounds in the middle of 2008. After being part of their family for seven years, they suddenly decided they didn't want me any more. Obviously didn't care what happened to me either. Believe me, it takes a long while to recover from an experience as traumatic as that!

When I first arrived at HPR, I must admit to having had a bit of attitude and always preferring to do things my way. Probably I was a bit bossy with some of the other dogs too. But I've mellowed a lot since then and I believe everyone here thinks well of me now. They also consider that I'm very youthful and lively for my age. You should only see me when I get a bit excited and go leaping around the yard doing the play bounce in front of everyone like a much younger dog. (I do this just before mealtimes also, to indicate that I'm really starving and need to be fed IMMEDIATELY!)

My carer thinks I would be best suited to an all-adult home. I'm primarily a house dog and don't like to be left outside on my own in the back yard for long periods. I would prefer a home where there is usually someone around most of the time. I'd like to be included in various family activities indoors and of course I'm used to sleeping inside at night.

My coat is soft and of medium length. I look my best if my hair is professionally trimmed every few months. These long slender legs of mine make me appear tall when I stand beside some of the more petite rescues here. I believe I weigh between 7 and 8 kgs.

**Please note that my specially discounted adoption fee of $200 also includes LIFETIME REGISTRATION with NSW Local Council.
